Accessibility statement
This statement applies to curriculum.ifairy.co.uk, run by iFairy CIC. iFairy CIC is not a public sector body, but schools, trusts and local authorities link to and use this site, so we follow the structure of the model accessibility statement used by UK public sector websites and aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.
Using this website
You should be able to:
- zoom up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen, and use the site on a phone
- navigate the whole site using just a keyboard, with a visible focus indicator and a "skip to main content" link
- use the site with a screen reader: every page has one main heading, landmarks and labelled form fields
- switch between a light and a dark theme, or let the site follow your device setting
- turn off animation by setting "reduce motion" on your device
- print any page or template, or save it as a PDF, without the menus
- read all main pages without JavaScript; it only adds filters, copying and the question assistant
AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.
How accessible this website is
We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible:
- Many official documents in the library are PDFs published by government departments and exam boards. We do not control them and some are not accessible, for example scanned pages or tables without headings.
- The document-type filter in the catalogue shows some internal type names rather than plain labels.
- Answers from the question assistant are generated text. They are shown as plain text with links, but long answers can be hard to scan with a screen reader.
- We have not yet had the site tested by disabled users or by an independent accessibility auditor.
Feedback and contact information
If you need information on this website in a different format, or you find a problem not listed on this page, email support@ifairy.co.uk. Tell us the web address of the page and what the problem is. We aim to reply within 10 working days.
Enforcement procedure
The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the accessibility regulations that apply to public sector bodies. If you are a public body using this site and are not happy with how we respond, you can raise it with us first; you can also contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS).
Technical information about this website's accessibility
Compliance status
This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.
Non-accessible content
Content that is not within the scope of what we control: PDF and HTML documents written and published by government departments, agencies and exam boards. We link to or reproduce them unchanged under their licences. Where we can, we give a plain-English summary on the document's page.
Known issues we will fix: plain labels for every document type in the catalogue filter; a structured (headed, listed) display of assistant answers.
What we're doing to improve accessibility
In October 2026 we rebuilt the site's design on one shared, tested stylesheet: colour contrast of at least 4.5:1 in both themes, visible keyboard focus, a skip link, a single main heading per page, labelled search fields, links instead of click-only cards, and print styles. Every page is checked with automated accessibility testing (axe-core) when it changes. We will arrange testing with disabled users and review this statement at least once a year.
Preparation of this accessibility statement
This statement was prepared on 4 October 2026. The site was last tested on 4 October 2026 by iFairy CIC, using automated testing (axe-core, WCAG 2.2 A and AA rules) on a sample of every page type — home, catalogue, document, templates, template, years, year, question assistant and these information pages — in light and dark themes, plus manual keyboard checks.
